What’s in the Boxes: Holiday Season 2011
soroboruo: This is the worst time of the year for a gamer. The final 3-4 months of the year is usually packed so full of releases that most people would just shill out $100 for a Call of Duty game and call it quits. Not us!
PC:
Skyrim – I like shouting people off cliffs. I’ve designed almost a minigame around trick shots and combos. Getting a wolf, a troll, an ice wraith, a bunny, and my horse in one shout was the equivalent of getting a straight flush in a poker game. In other words, pretty awesome.
Dungeon Defenders – Action RPG meets tower defense. It’s a pretty addictive little gem.
Battlefield 3 – We always play with war tapes on. There is no substitute.
Saints Row: The Third – Wacky, ridiculous, over the top. No game has ever done anything like this.
Minecraft – The game hit full release a few weeks back and we’ve been spending quite a bit of time crafting an elegant mountain top castle. Along with a giant staircase. And a waterfall emergency exit. And a railway system.
Xbox 360:
Call of Duty 8: Modern Warfare 3 – I play this game only when I want to feel depressed about how people get paid to crank out utter shit and the mindless masses eat it up. But hey, I’m a hipster, what do I know about how awesome this game is and how everything is so balanced and how the maps are incredibly well made and how the guns sound spectacular and how the game really is all about skill now and…
Batman: Arkham City – It’s like some crazy mix of Legend of Zelda and Metroid all in one Batmanny nugget. Well worth the $60 I paid for it.
PS3:
Call of Duty 8: Modern Warfare 3 – I don’t have PS3, but I played this at apocalex’s place, so I’m assuming he owns this game and a PS3. And plays this game on said PS3 when I’m not around.
3DS:
I sold it off. Almost the most expensive paperweight I’ve ever bought, but at least I made some of it back.
Wii:
Wha?
